Orangevale Open Sets Curve for Area Elementary School Standardized Test Goals

For better and worse area elementary schools have managed to maintain some air of consistency in Academic Performance Index (API) test scores.

Four of the five area elementary schools, including , , and Twin Lakes have maintained consitently high API test scores and in every case exceeded statewide goals since the system's creation in 1999.

The figures show these schools exceeding the statewide goal of 800, though only Harry Dewey and Twin Lakes actually improved upon their previous year's test scores. 

Despite having the most dramatic decline in test scores, dropping to a score of 896 from 908 in 2010, Orangevale Open still managed to lead the area in overall API test scores.

Earl Legette also dropped its test score to 853 from 863 the previous year.

, however, was unable to meet the statewide goal, scoring an area-low 743, up eight points from the previous year's score of 735. Northridge has yet to meet the goal set since the system was created.

The figures released Wednesday by the California Department of Education also measure the proficiency of students in English and language arts, as well as math. In those categories, only Earl Legette was able to meet all goals set in both categories. Every other elementary school in the area was unable to meet any of the goals set in either category.
