Police: Homicide Suspect Arrested After Brief Standoff
Two others arrested in connection with July 29 shooting.
Sacramento County Sheriff’s detectives on Wednesday arrested a suspect wanted in connection with the death of a man at an apartment complex on Manzanita Avenue last week, officials said.
Patrick Godines, 26, was taken into custody and booked into the Sacramento County Jail for murder, said Dep. Jason Ramos. Godines is ineligible for bail at this time.
On July 29, at about 12:15 a.m., Sheriff’s deputies responded to calls of a man who had been shot in an apartment on the 5700 block of Manzanita Avenue. Upon arrival, deputies found a man with a gunshot wound to his upper body.
The victim, later identified as , 54, was transported to a hospital and later died of his injuries, Ramos said.
Investigation into this homicide led detectives to the identification of Godines as a suspect in this incident. Godines was believed to be at a home on the 7400 block of Stella Way. Upon detectives’ arrival at that residence Wednesday, two males and a small child were contacted and exited the home.

Detectives confirmed at that time that Godines was inside. Detectives surrounded the home and called Godines out. After waiting inside for about 30 minutes, Godines exited the residence and was taken into custody without further incident, Ramos said.
On Tuesday, Sheriff’s homicide detectives arrested Travis Mabson, 31, and Patrick McPherson, 24, in connection with the incident, as well. Both were taken into custody at residences in Sacramento County, and are being held without bail in the Sacramento County Main Jail, on charges of murder, robbery, and conspiracy, Ramos said.
The exact role each of these suspects played in this homicide is still under investigation at this time.
