Relay For Life Set for Saturday at Churchill Middle School

The American Cancer Society's Relay For Life is set for Saturday in Carmichael at .

The event, which begins at 9 a.m. Saturday and goes until 9 a.m. Sunday is a 24-hour gathering where teams of people camp out and take turns walking or running around a track or path to raise money for cancer research.

The Relay event, which is held in communities nationwide, usually begins with an opening ceremony and an opening lap for cancer survivors. A luminaria ceremony is held in the evening where candles are placed in paper bags.

Teams listed for the Carmichael Relay include the Carmichael Walgreens and the Rio Americano High School cheer team.
