River City Chorale To Hold Weekend Concerts

Shows are in Sacramento and Roseville.

The River City Chorale, which has some members from Carmichael, will hold two concerts this weekend.

The shows will be in Sacramento and Roseville. Attendees will enjoy a potpourri of springtime choral music, with everything from a work by Franz Schubert to a song by country singer Hank Williams and a jazzy setting of a 16th century madrigal, sung by the 60 men and women of the chorale, organizers said.

Carmichael resident Stan Muther has been with the chorale for 19 years.

"I like doing it because singing with a group of people is a neat thing to do," said Muther, who is also an associate choir director at Northminster Presbyterian Church in Sacramento.

Linda Golding said she enjoys singing in the chorale.

"Everyone is working toward a goal of making beautiful music," Golding said. "You experience a camaraderie."

The group sings a variety of music, including Christmas music, cabaret style, songs in French and Latin and folk music, said chorale member Lois Wright, who also serves on the Carmichael-Old Foothill Farms Planning Commission.

"I've always enjoyed singing in a mixed chorus," Wright said. "It's fun."
