Rooster Call 8/18: Congressman Lungren, Home Buyer Workshop, Bike Night

Maybe it's just us, but does it seem like this week is flying by? Whatever the case may be, it is once again Thursday in Fair Oaks, and oh, what a day it is shaping up to be.

First things first: It's going to be a warm one. According to the National Weather Service, temperatures could reach 94 degrees in and around Sacramento County, so if you're heading outside, be sure to stay hydrated.

With that in mind, we've assembled some fun ways to beat the heat, while still managing to get outside too. Even though it's not Friday yet, there are still plenty of ways to enjoy the day, so why not take a look at what's happening around town?

Luncheon with Congressman Dan Lungren

Members of the will meet today for the monthly luncheon where guest speaker Congressman Dan Lungren (R-Gold River) will administer the oath of office to the new Fair Oaks Postmaster. The postal delegation will consist of 11 Postmasters, the Post Office Operation Manager, friends and family for a total of 25 special guests. The meeting begins at noon in the . Don't forget the business cards.

Family Bike Night

Take a 10-minute drive out to Safetyville USA for a free family bike night starting at 5:30 p.m. Every Thursday night until August 25th, you can bring your bike, the helmets and the kids and enjoy a cool night of bike riding. Children must be accompanied by an adult and every rider must have a helmet. Bicycle vendors will be out there doing safety and helmet checks. Safetyville will also host a bicycle safety seminar beginning at 6:30 p.m. Hot dogs, chips, popcorn, sodas and snow cones will also be available for purchase.
