Rooster Call 8/8: Mayoral Fundraising, Worldly Art, More

It may be August, but don't count summertime heat waves out just yet. It's going to be a warm one in the area, with highs of about 90 degrees, according to The National Weather Service

Though the weather may not agree with some, there are some fun ways to beat the heat and enjoy yourself while doing it around town today.

Teen Intro to the Sewing Machine

Alright, now hear us out. Yeah, sure, sewing isn't the most exciting way to spend these last days of summer, but imagine the knowledge you'll gain in the long-term. How many times has a torn seem kept you from wearing that piece of clothing you wanted? Of course, we could just go buy a new shirt or pair of pants, but how cost-effective is that. Who knows? The knowledge gained could end up saving you a couple bucks in the long-run. The folks over at  on the workshop which begins at 2 p.m. and goes till 6. Wine Tasting for Mayor Fundraiser

Head out to Players Sports & Grill for a mayoral fundraiser. The River City Ukes will perform as you enjoy raffles, snacks, a silent auction and wine tasting! Tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased at the Chamber of Commerce office or by contacting Honorary Mayor Candidate Linda Miller at fairoaks.mayor@gmail.com.

Art Around the World

It's pretty straightforward for the folks over at the Orangevale Library, who succinctly describe their gallery as, "art from around the world." Clearly they must mean there will be art from around the world. Round up the family and come check out some art selections an entire planet has to offer starting around 6 p.m. There's bound to be something to enjoy. For more information call 916-264-2700.
