Sac Sheriff: No Leads in Search for Missing Boy

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department remains optimistic they will locate Miguel Sanchez, who went missing Tuesday.

The search for Miguel Sanchez, , appears to have already reached an impasse, said Sacramento County Sheriff's Department spokesman Jason Ramos.

With no promising leads the department has scaled back its search for Sanchez, Ramos explained; however, the deputy said it remains likely the boy will be located. Given the 11-year-old’s limited means, Sanchez will likely have to reach out to someone, Ramos said.

"He doesn’t have the means to sustain himself,” Ramos said.

Without money for food or transportation, Sanchez will likely reach out to someone for help at which point, Ramos is hopeful that “someone” will reach out to the proper authorities.

Sanchez, who isn’t from Fair Oaks, let alone Sacramento, won’t be familiar with the area either, Ramos said, which could prove useful in the investigation. The boy’s parents were notified about his disappearance, but it doesn’t seem likely the boy would head in their direction, Ramos said.

Ramos could not elaborate as to where the boy’s parents live or their involvement in the investigation.

Since the boy left on his own accord, it remains a mystery which way Sanchez was heading and without a public sighting, Ramos said, it remains a search for a needle in a haystack.

Sanchez was last seen at approximately 9:30 a.m. Tuesday by staff members at the 9800 block Fair Oaks Boulevard group where he has been staying. He is considered at-risk due to his age.

Ramos added Sanchez is subject to violent outbursts, and should not be alone in the company of other young children.

Miguel is of Hispanic descent and is 5’ tall, weighing approximately 120 pounds. He was last seen wearing a grey shirt, grey jeans, and white tennis shoes.

Anyone knowing the whereabouts of this missing child is asked to call the Sheriff’s Department at (916) 874-5115.
