Safe Halloween in Fair Oaks Village Celebrates 'Year of Literacy'

Local organizations look to inspire young readers through a safe, fun Halloween for Fair Oaks youngsters.

Organizations throughout Fair Oaks and banding together in the hopes of inspiring area youngsters to read more while enjoying the annual Safe Halloween in Fair Oaks Village.

In addition to the regularly-scheduled trick-or-treating, oranizers will be providing games and prizes, face painting, as well as a live performance from the Fair Oaks Theatre Festival, Frights and Friends.

To celebrate its Year of Literacy, Fair Oaks Rotary Club is adding “reading areas” where participants can listen to someone (maybe a witch or a ghost) read a story that may, or may not, be new to you. Each child who attends will then be able to select a book of their choice before they leave as well. Books are being provided through a collection being taken by local Rotarians.
