San Juan Unified: What You Need to Know About Staff Furlough Days
The San Juan Unified School District and its staff have agreed to implement as many as 13 furlough days throughout the 2012-2013 school year.

To maintain fiscal solvency in the wake of unprecedented state funding reductions and uncertainties surrounding the November 2012 election, San Juan Unified and its employee groups have agreed to implement furlough days for 2012-13 and 2013-14.

These days have been identified as definite furlough days and will be implemented.
- August 31, 2012 (STUDENTS WILL NOT ATTEND SCHOOL.)
- June 6, 2013 (THIS WAS A STAFF WORK DAY)
Potential Furlough Days

These days have been identified as additional furlough days that may be taken depending on final state funding levels and the outcome of November's funding initiatives.
- Feb. 15 and 25
- March 22
- April 1
- May 28, 29, 30 and 31
- June 3, 4 and 5.
A final determination will be made on these days in January 2013 when the election results are known and any mid-year cuts from the state are known. We recognize this creates a great difficulty for our families and our employees, however it is necessary given the uncertainty in state finances if the District is to remain financially solvent.
Families should plan to attend school on these days until a final determination is made in January of 2013.
