Search for Armed Suspect in Carmichael Places Nearby Elementary School on Lockdown
Sacramento County Sheriff's Department deputies and U.S. Marshals search for an armed man last seen inside a Carmichael apartment complex.
Sacramento County Sheriff's Department and U.S. Marshals are currently searching for an armed man last seen hiding out inside a Carmichael apartment complex, according to Sheriff's Department officials.
Sheriff's officials explained the the man ran into the complex around 11:45 a.m. while evading U.S. Marshals. The entire apartment complex has been placed on lockdown while authorities searched from the man, according to Sheriff's spokeswoman Sharon Chow.
Nearby Mission Avenue Elementary school has also been placed on shelter status, which, according to San Juan Unified School District spokesperson Trent Allen, means all doors of classrooms are locked but instruction continues.

Sheriff's Department spokesman Jason Ramos explained the armed suspect is wanted on weapons and grand theft auto charges in the state of Washington.
Ramos also noted the man a native of the Carmichael area.
