On Wednesday, Sheriff Scott Jones held a press conference and spoke about the state of the Sheriff’s Department and its direction after his first 100 days
of office. Jones recapped accomplishments of his administration thus far, and spoke about the department continuing to move forward.
He outlined his action plan for the Sheriff’s Department, which was divided

liaisons and facilitating professional relationships with other members.
Problem Solving – The sheriff has prioritized the issues surrounding gang and youth violence by participating in community outreach, as well as fostering a relationship with (Sacramento) Mayor Kevin Johnson pursuant to these specific interests. Jones has allocated personnel to field services, improving staffing levels in patrol divisions throughout all service areas in Sacramento County.
Raising Standards - Jones initiated a department-wide audit in all divisions of the Sheriff’s Department, including the participation of the Inspector General. He formed community-based and faith-based advisory boards and initiated and developed a comprehensive Strategic Plan for the department, to be continued annually.
Leadership – Jones initiated rotations of assignments for captains and managers, for the purposes of individual development, and the continued development of the Sheriff’s Department as a whole. He held the first promotion ceremony since the
unprecedented layoffs in 2009. Jones has spoken at dozens of community
