Crash occurred at intersection of Winding and Garfield.

Two paramedics and a Sacramento County Sheriff's deputy were injured Sunday afternoon after their vehicles collided at the intersection of Garfield Avenue and Winding Way in Carmichael, a sheriff's spokesman said.
The collision took place at about 1:30 p.m.and both paramedics and the deputy were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, said Dep. Jason Ramos.
At the time of the collision, the Sheriff’s deputy was responding northbound on Garfield Avenue, en route to assist another officer on a call for service, Ramos said. The deputy was responding in Code 3 status, with emergency lights and siren activated.
The ambulance was traveling westbound on Winding Way, responding to a medical emergency call. As both vehicles entered the intersection of Garfield Avenue and Winding Way, they were unable to avoid each other and the collision occurred, Ramos said.
At the scene of the accident, both paramedics were able to exit the ambulance. The
deputy, a 13-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Department, was trapped inside his vehicle and had to be extricated by emergency medical personnel. The deputy sustained some facial injuries, but was conscious and speaking at the scene, prior to being transported to the hospital, Ramos said.
No other vehicles or pedestrians were involved in this incident, which is being
investigated by the California Highway Patrol. The intersection of Garfield Avenue and Winding Way remained partially closed for several hours, as vehicles were towed away and the scene was processed.
