Mexican restaurant was once in Sacramento News & Review’s Best of Sacramento issue for offering the Best Mexican food and margaritas in Carmichael, that publication writes in a recent review.
The Mission Avenue establishment gets 2.5 stars (out of 5) from the weekly paper.
"The place might be a little tired, but it is tidy," the reviewer writes. "And here’s where El Palmar excels."

"The joint is hopping on a Friday night with most of the tables filled," the review continues. "The crowd looks to be getting what they want: swiftly served simple Mexican fare that fills the stomach but doesn’t frighten gringo sensibilities."
El Palmar was recently honored by Sacramento County’s Environmental Management Department with a Food Safety Awards of Excellence certificate for being among a few local food facilities that had no major violations in its three most recent health inspections.
