Trends-n-Treats Moves to New Location, Grand Opening This Weekend

Millie Finch's pet store business gets a new lease in a larger location.

Millie Finch, owner of Trends~n~Treats pet supply, spa and pet boutique, has talked enough about the events that lead up to Saturday's grand opening of her shop in its new location.

She'd rather start talking about new beginnings in a new, larger location.

"A lot of people are saying they love the vibe," Finch said. "They love the fact that we've kept the character the same from the old store."

As reported back in , Finch found herself competing for business when center owners approved the opening of Unleashed by PetCo. As a result, sales took a nosedive.

Center owners eventually agreed to let Finch out of her lease. Since, she's been hard at work getting her new shop together, located at 8929 Madison Avenue inside Fair Oaks Promenade.

"We're just glad to be out of there," Finch said. "There are things we're still finalizing over there; they didn't just let me go, but it's alright."

Finch explained locals and local businesses, including Promenade developer, Paul Petrovich and CTM Construction representatives were instrumental in helping bring the new location together, lending their expertise in installing tile floors, new cabinets, custom window etchings and more.

"They did so many things, like installing tile (flooring) instead of linoleum in our bathrooms, they did the lamenating on our doors in clear coat instead of paint," Finch said.

Finch said costs were as high as $400 for all the improvements which were volunteered free of charge.

"They weren't personal friends of mine; I'd never met them before in my life," Finch said. "They were just really nice people trying to go above and beyond."

The grand opening will be ongoing through the Memorial Day weekend. Events will include live radio remote, animal resucu groups, canine/feline fashion designers, animal nutrition representatives, free dog training classes, animal accupuncture and more.
