Two Men Arrested For Attempt to Siphon Gas

Sheriffs officers responded about midnight on Fair Oaks Blvd.

Apparently the falling weren't cheap enough for two men in central Carmichael early this morning.

Guy Casey, 45, of Carmichael and Mitchell Smith, 26, of Rio Linda were arrested shortly after midnight after they were caught attempting to siphon gas from a van near the , said Sacramento County Sheriff's Dep. Jason Ramos.

Police said the duo were reported to be near the mortuary at 6201 Fair Oaks Boulevard at about 11:55 p.m. Sunday and multiple sheriff's deputies arrived on the scene. The men took off running and a sheriff's helicopter was called in on the search.

The men ran a nearby apartment complex and behind the Waffle Barn restaurant before they were arrested, Ramos said. They were charged with petty theft and resisting arrest.

A vehicle they had arrived to the scene in was towed, Ramos said.
