U.S. Census to Release Fair Oaks Population and Other Details Tuesday

Fair Oaks will receive hard numbers on its population when the U.S. Census releases the information Tuesday.

Fair Oaks’ demographics such as population, race and ethnicity will be detailed in the report. The information will likely raise questions on a number of hot-button topics such as immigration, as well as fodder for debates on boundary redistricting and other political initiatives.

California’s population reached 37.3 million in 2010, according Census Bureau data. While the state did grow by approximately 10 percent over the past decade, it remains to be seen how quickly that population grew compared to previous years. This year will also mark the first time California’s Congressional Delegation will not gain a seat after a census in 90 years.

Results on gender and age groups will also be released in the report as well as the number of unoccupied housing and other vacant units.
