Del Campo High School alumnus Patrick Underly, 29, was born with a condition that would hinder him in many ways, though it never diminished his drive. 

Earlier this summer, Underly competed in the Special Olympics Summer Games, .

Underly's condition, known as septo-optic dysplasia, causes the optic nerve to never fully develop, causing visual disabilities as well as learning delays.

In this video, coaches, parents and Underly himself talk about his perseverence and his motivation to rise above his special needs and become the champion he is today.
