Video: Water Rescue Team Warms Up for Summer
Sacramento Metro Fire Department's Station 65 water rescue team gears up for a busy summer.
Station 65 Capt. Roy Cameron of Sacramento Metro Fire Department's water rescue team explains some of the finer points of what he and his team will be facing this summer.
The American River is running at record-setting water levels of more than 10,000 cubic feet per second (CFS). To put it in perspective, the river was running at about 1,200 CFS this time last year and in certain parts of it one could actually walk across its width.
With water running so swift and its temperature so cold, Cameron and his crew will be working harder than ever to ensure people in and around Fair Oaks remain safe. That includes ensuring the safety of his crew.
