Week in High School Sports Nov. 14-18
The week ahead in sports for Carmichael area high-schools.
As the high school fall sports season comes to an end, girls volleyball and football are the only sports still in the playoffs. Three Carmichael-area schools are still playing. Good luck to them all.
Tuesday 15
In girls volleyball, two Carmichael-area are on a course to meet in Thursday's Division II section final at UC Davis but one of them is a double-digit seed coming off of two upsets.

In Tuesday's semifinals (both at 7 p.m.), No.1-seeded hosts No. 4 Del Oro and No. 11 is at No. 2 Rocklin. The Eagles made quick work of Will C. Wood and Lodi in the first two rounds but the Raiders have won twice on the road against higher seeds, No. 6 River Valley of Yuba City and No. 3 Bella Vista, the latter pitting a Carmichael-area school against a Fair Oaks one. Rio began the season with seven players, due to injuries and now only have 10 but if they beat Rocklin, it would be a chance to defeat El Camino after three losses.

The No. 1-seeded El Camino girls volleyball team has made the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division II finals against No. 2 Rocklin at UC Davis at 8 p.m.
The Eagles defeated Del Oro on Tuesday 25-9, 25-11, 25-13. The Thunder defeated Rio Americano 28-26, 25-17, 25-15.
Friday 18
is the lone area school in the football playoffs, following 's loss. On Friday, the No. 9-seeded Cougars finished with a 34-12 rout of eighth-seeded Downey of Modesto in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division II opener. Del Campo now must go on the road again to face D-II No. 1 seed and undefeated Buhach Colony of Atwater on Friday.
