-The team plays at Tokay in Lodi at noon in the second round of the Division I playoffs.
-In Division II girls water polo action at Whitney High School in Rocklin, plays Dixon at 8 a.m. and faces Del Oro at 10:30 a.m.
-In D-II boys water polo action at Whitney, faces Bear River at 1 p.m. and El Camino plays Bella Vista of Fair Oaks at 4:45 p.m.
-The Mira Loma girls tennis team continues in the playoffs today against Del Oro at Del Norte Tennis Club, starting at 2 p.m.
Thursday 10
In boys soccer playoff action at 3 p.m.,
-Jesuit hosts West-Tracy in Division I following the Marauders' 4-1 win over Armijo on Tuesday. The Jesuit scorers were junior Kaba Alkebulan, senior Dylan Wong, sophomore John Bovill, junior Austin Burrows.
- hosts Natomas in Division III following the Raiders' 1-0 win over Lincoln on Tuesday. Senior Jonny Lanthier scored for Rio.
In girls volleyball playoff games at 7 p.m.,
- El Camino hosts Lodi after the Eagles defeated Will C. Wood on Tuesday 25-6, 25-14, 25-8, giving coach Marty Soyama his 100th win at ECHS.
-Rio Americano is at Bella Vista of Fair Oaks after the Raiders won at River Valley in Yuba City on Tuesday 25-13, 25-15, 25-10. Senior Ariana Garner got her 1,000th assist on the season. Key players for Rio included junior Maddie Cannon with 13 kills, one error, 15 attempts .800 hitting percentage, three aces and three blocks, senior Heather Horton with seven kills, no errors and eight attempts, senior Erika Tabor with four kills and four attempts, junior Sabine Wilson with five kills, one error and eight attempts and sophomore Michala Merlino with 17 serves, four aces, three kills on three attempts and nine digs. Rio Americano played Bella Vista on Sept. 3 in the CIVT tournament when the Broncos won 2-1.
-Victory Christian is at New Life Christian after the Vikings defeated Lodi Academy on Tuesday 25-7, 25-9, 25-11.
Friday 11
In the Division I boys water polo playoffs, it's Jesuit vs. Oak Ridge in the semifinals after the Marauders defeated Tokay 18-6 on Wednesday.
Two Carmichael area schools qualified for the football playoffs.
In Division I, No. 14-seeded (5-5) goes on the road to face No. 3 Bethel (9-1) at Vallejo High School.
In Division II, No. 9 (7-3) heads to Modesto to face No. 8. Downey (8-2) in an early 1 p.m. contest.
Also, the cross country section finals will be held at Willow Hills in Folsom with runners from , and in the field.
For the Eagles, Neysa Mains and Kandace Compton qualified for the section finals. Mains was third in the girls varsity Division-III sub-sections race and was the third fastest time of the day for all girls. The girls varsity team was 13th overall, missing the section finals by only three spots. The boys varsity team led by Tristan Novis were 17th overall. Anthony Ramos just missed out by three spots from grabbing an individual berth to the section finals. Mike Villegas ran a great race in the junior varsity Boys D-III event and Julie Brunner and Merihan Shaban finished well in the freshmen/sophomores girls D-III race.
The Marauders varsity squad took 4th place to qualify for the section championships. Junior Chris Goode again led the Marauders in 15th place in a time of 16:36, nearly a minute faster than his previous outing on the course and earning a medal in the process. The 2nd-6th men for the varsity had an impressive 19 second spread with junior Sam Stoll (29th, 17:03), senior Kyle Sanborn (30th, 17:04) and junior Eric Ragland (34th, 17:08) leading the charge of red and gold. Senior Luke Gary (44th, 17:19) edged out sophomore Andrew Brown (50th, 17:22) for the final scoring position. Tristyn Martin completed the impressive showing for the varsity squad in 61st (17:38). The varsity boys will compete for one of four berths to the State Meet in Clovis (race time: 10:30 a.m.). The freshmen boys start off the meet at 9 a.m. followed by the sophomore boys at 9:20 a.m. The JV individuals race at 12 noon.
For the Raiders, the boys and girls varsity teams both qualified for the Sac-Joaquin Section Championship, by placing among the top 10 teams at the Subsection Meet held at Frogtown, Angels Camp. Junior Macaulay Porter and senior Devyn Andrews earned individual medals in the girls varsity race and led their team to a 4th place finish (out of 21 teams). Junior George Halvorsen and sophomore Kenji Anzai earned individual medals in the boys varsity race and paced the boys to an 8th place finish (out of 25 teams). Sophomore Audry Ishi also earned an individual medal in the frosh/soph girls race. The varsity girls race starts at 12:40 p.m. and the varsity boys race is at 1:45 p.m.
