The week ahead for Carmichael-area high schools.

Monday Oct. 31

- The Rio Americano girls volleyball team (27-9) holds Senior Night when it faces Antelope at about 6:15 p.m.

- The team (6-15) holds its own Senior Night when it hosts El Camino (29-2).

Wednesday Nov. 2

-The El Camino and Rio Americano girls volleyball teams, among the tops in the Sacramento area, meet for the third time this season at about 6:15 p.m. at El Camino, on the Eagles' Senior Night. The Eagles have won the meetings.

- The Mira Loma girls volleyball team ends its season at Cordova at 6:30 p.m.

Thursday, Nov. 3

- The team plays its first playoff game on Thursday at Jesuit at 3 p.m. against Will C. Wood of Vacaville.

- player Carolina Chernetsky is playing singles in the section playoffs.

Friday Nov. 4

- The team plays its first Section playoff game at 8 a.m. against Sonora at Woodcreek High School in Roseville. The Raiders, seeking a 10th straight section title, lost two one goal games at the NorCal Championship tournament last weekend in Menlo Park then beat Castilleja 9-4 for 15th place.

-The team opens the section playoffs at 2:15 p.m. at Woodcreek High School.

In Friday night lights high school football action,

- (3-6) hosts (4-5) at 7:30 p.m. at El Camino.

- (4-5) is at Ponderosa of Shingle Springs at 7:15 p.m.

- Mira Loma (2-7) is at Cordova at 7:30 p.m.

Saturday Nov. 5

- The team is in Modesto at Johansen High School for the playoffs on Saturday at 8 a.m.

- The team (23-6) begins the first round of the section playoffs against Oakmont at 10:15 a.m. at Woodcreek High School as the No. 1 overall seed. faces McClatchy at 4:30 p.m. El Camino plays at 7 p.m.

- The team will compete in Sub-Sections at Angels Camp at Frogtown at 11:30 a.m. It's the qualifier for Sections.
