Week in Review, April 23: Olympic Hopes, Population Increases, County Supervisors and More
A look back on the week ending April 23.

It was another busy week in Fair Oaks. This week the community had a chance to chime in on Sacramento County redistricting plans, while strong performances in high school sports kept fans’ spirits high. The week also had locals and county supervisors express their opinions on the elimination of activities from a popular outdoor area. There was much more, too, so after discovering all the Easter eggs, take a few minutes to relax and discover everything else happening in the community for the week ending April 23.
- – From massage specialists, salon stylists to bicycle technicians and cell phone retailers, be sure to check in on all the local available job opportunities.
- – The soft-spoken and polite senior wrestler is anything but in the ring. Jennifer Page will be training as hard as possible for the Olympic qualifying tournaments taking place this winter while attending one of the best women’s wrestling schools in the country, Oklahoma City University.
- – Fair Oaks’ Sacramento County District 4 requires a population increase of more than 17,000 residents, Sacramento Registrar of Voters representatives have concluded as a result of the latest U.S. Census statistics. Residents were given an opportunity to chime in on the latest plans being developed for the impending redistricting initiative.
- – Fair Oaks Patch is holding its first contest ever, asking readers to submit their best and/or favorite prom photo from the past for a chance to win dinner for two. Be sure to read the instructions for your chance to win.
- – Residents take center stage, expressing differing opinions on the controversy swirling around the elimination of outdoor activities in one popular nature area.
- – Sacramento County Supervisor, District 4, Roberta MacGlashan hosted a workshop where County Registrar of Voters representatives explained different redistricting proposals and offered residents a chance to voice their own ideas and opinions.
- – Sacramento County District 3 Supervisor, Susan Peter responds to debate over the removal of “active use” in Schweitzer Grove Nature Area.
- – The Bella Vista varsity baseball team took on Rosemont High School in the championship game of the Gina Montes SureWest-Woodcreek Varsity Invitational, beating the Wolverines, 3-2.
- – Crime hasn’t taken a break in Fair Oaks, with a variety of attempted car burglaries, home invasions and telephone cash scams.
- – The varsity Broncos baseball team travelled to Raley Field for the opportunity to play on the big field, facing off against Rio Americano. Catch up on all the video highlights as Bella Vista shut out the Raiders Friday night, 3-0.
