Week in Review, April 30: Eggstravaganza, Superintendent Retirement, Bloggers and More

A look back at the week ending April 30.

It was a week filled with celebrations, new beginnings and a little old-fashioned Fair Oaks high school rivalry. The week started off with an Easter festival in Fair Oaks Park and so it would seem fitting maybe that it would end with another - the 62nd annual Spring Fest held in The Village’s Plaza Park. Of course, that was not all that was happening in Fair Oaks this week. Let’s take a moment to sit back on a Sunday afternoon and look back on the week that was April 24 – April 30.

  1. – Families from all over Sacramento met to enjoy some Easter-themed activities, including an egg hunt, a petting zoo, pictures with the Easter Bunny and more.
  2. – Catch up on all the week’s new job openings available in the Fair Oaks area.
  3. – Pat Jaurequi, San Juan Unified School District’s superintendent since 2008, will retire effective Aug. 30. Meetings will be held by the district’s board to determine who will step in to fill her vacant role.
  4. – Bella Vista High School’s varsity girls’ soccer team continues to make its march toward playoff glory and a Capital Valley league championship.
  5. – Have something to say? We’re looking for bloggers who can riff on various topics, share their personality and engage our readers in discussions.
  6. – A Rohnert Park homicide has led authorities to believe Citrus Heights parties involved may be connected.
  7. – The Cougars look to get their season back on track after a tough loss.
  8. – The Department of Fish and Game announced for the first time since 2008 there will be a six-month salmon season, beginning in July.
  9. – The Broncos girls varsity soccer team is one win away from a Capital Valley playoffs berth. Fellow Fair Oaks high school, Del Campo would like to ensure that win doesn’t come easy, if it comes at all.
  10. – A Fair Oaks neighborhood appears to have found a solution for a growing beehive in an abandoned neighbor’s home. The next step will be relocating the bees. Where that is has not yet been determined.
