Week in Review, Aug. 6: Dangerous Intersection, National Night Out, More

A look back on the week ending August 6.

It was a busy week of goings on in the Fair Oaks area. It's a nice lazy Sunday, so when you're finished enjoying your weekend, check out some of the biggest stories making headlines in your neighborhood.

  1.  - Starting Aug. 12 The Great American Trailer Park Musical will make its first appearance at Veteran's Memorial Amphitheater.
  2.  - The head of the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District was on KFBK Monday.
  3.  - The intersection made up for 7 percent of the total car accidents in Sacramento County.
  4.  - Sacramento police doubled down on a Fair Oaks parolee when they nabbed him and his twin brother Thursday.
  5.  - Last night fliers were posted in neighborhoods explaining planned National Night Out events had been canceled due to a lack of attendees.
  6.  - A newly passed law, coupled with the increasing costs for food and fuel have lead to another round of increased costs for San Juan Unified School District school lunches.
  7.  - Though only three Japanese beetles have been accounted for, Sacramento County officials aren't wasting any time making sure the voracious pest is effectively eradicated.
  8.  - Bella Vista High School's field hockey team provided physicals for all student athletes at their campus as part of a big fundraiser for the team, the only field hockey team in the entire district.
