What Makes Your Mom The Best?

There's no one that will ever be quite like your mother. Maybe I'm going out on a limb saying that, but if I didn't, I am sure she'd make me pay for it later.

Mothers are a special breed. There's no one else who can touch your heart, inspire you, embarrass you and infuriate you all in the blink of an eye quite like she can. But in that blink of an eye all of it just mixes and becomes just another small piece of what makes her great. Also, I can't forget she's probably doing it for my own good, right? Right.

What makes my mother special? There's no doubt it's a loaded question, but I'll do my best. After all, I wouldn't be where I am today if it wasn't for her steadfast resolve; her inability to allow me to compromise my morales; her devout care and attention to my studies; the shoulder I could rely on; or the kick in the butt I really needed.

But what makes her so special to me, is none of that has ever changed. She remains, like she did when I was just a kid, the same loving, caring and nurturing person she has always been.

Though I'm not that same boy she used to watch walk off to the bus stop to school everyday, I'm still her son and I always will be. As I've grown, she's grown with me. When I hurt; she hurt with me and vice-versa. When there was joy and excitation; she was likely the first to find out and vice-versa. Together we've shared more and more as I've matured and become a man. And though I am resolved to remind her I am no longer that child, I am certain that in some way, like her, I too see the growth in a person I could not be more proud of.

Mothers Day is right around the corner and this is a small celebration of what makes my mother special to me.
