Who's Running for Carmichael Water District Board?

Four candidates vie for separate board seats on the Carmichael Water District Board.

Carmichael residents will have their pick of four candidates vying for two open Board of Directors seats in the upcoming November election.

General elections will be held Tuesday, Nov. 6.

The district has a five-member Board who are elected to represent their constituents and set District policy.

Incumbents in two separate districts, Mark R. Emmerson of Division 2 and Ronny Lee Greenwood in Division 4 will face off against Jim Baker and Peter Kazak for their respective seats.

  • Mark Emmerson: Emmerson is the incumbent Director for Division 2 of the Carmichael Water District. Emmerson is employed with the California Department of Health Services. He was elected to the Board of Directors in 1996 to represent Division 2 and has served as past President of the Board.
  • Ron Greenwood: Greenwood, the incumbent Director in Division 4, is a realtor for Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate and 28-year resident of Carmichael. He began serving as a director for the CWD in 2007. Greenwood has been a board member for the past 5 years with the Regional Water Authority Executive Board, representing the CWD with the Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA), a ACWA’s Joint Powers Insurance Authority Representative, plus serves on Carmichael’s Park Foundation, is an active member and past president of the Kiwanis Club of Carmichael, a member of Carmichael’s Chamber of Commerce and is a Commissioner for Sacramento County’s Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCo) reviewing special district services and land use.
  • Jim Baker: Long-time Carmichael resident, Jim Baker is listed as "retired," according to the Sacramento County Elections office. He has been publically vocal with regard to certain political initiatives as they impact the local water district.
  • Peter Kazak: Another retired Carmichael resident, Kazak has been heard publically speaking at a number of Carmichael Water District public meetings.
