133 Traffic Citations In Operation Targeting Foster City And Beyond

FOSTER CITY, CA — Police made about 145 traffic stops and issued 133 citations during an enforcement program Tuesday in San Mateo County, according to authorities.
Seventeen deputies and officers participated in the third such deployment of 2025 targeting known trouble spots in the county, with Tuesday’s operation focusing specifically on San Mateo, Foster City and Belmont, according to a news release from the San Mateo County Police Chiefs & Sheriff Association.

- 51 for speaking on the phone or texting while driving;
- 36 for failing to stop at a stop sign;
- Five for driving with an expired vehicle registration;
- Three for not yielding to a pedestrian in a crosswalk;
- Eight for a red light violation;
- Eight for safety equipment violations such as not properly using a seatbelt or car seat;
- Three for driving without a valid license;
- Five for various vehicle equipment violations;
- Two for license issues;
- Six for speeding;
- Three for illegal U-turns;
- One for failing to yield;
- One for crossing a double yellow line;
- One for not following the regulations of a provisional license.
The planned deployments will continue throughout San Mateo County in 2025, according to police.
