Council OKs Parking Ticket Hike
$3 increase will help city comply with state budget requirements.
The Fountain Valley City Council adopted a resolution Tuesday night that will increase the fine for parking citations by $3 for the 2011 calendar year.
Police Chief Paul Sorrell told the council that, as part of the state's amended budget, cities will now be required to send $12.50 from every parking citation to the state, up from $9.50 last year. Without an equivalent increase in Fountain Valley, Sorrell said, the city could lose close to $28,000, based on approximately 9,500 citiations that were issued during the 2009-10 fiscal year.

- adopted a resolution to waive the $50 banner permit fee for the rest of the calendar year.
- approved the re-creation of an alternate position on the Fountain Valley Planning Commission.
