False Tsunami Report Prompts Sirens, Alerts In Huntington Beach
Authorities were working to determine how the inaccurate report was sent out.
HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA — A report of a possible tsunami approaching Huntington Beach Friday morning prompted an alert to be issued and sirens to sound around the city turned out to be a false alarm.
Authorities were working to determine how the inaccurate report was sent out.
"Many of you may have heard the civil defense sirens sound...," the Huntington Beach Fire Department tweeted about 4:20 a.m. "There is no current threat to our community."
