Free Concert to Benefit Japanese Relief Efforts

Local community groups hope to raise $100,000.

As stories surface today of a second earthquake in Japan, Fountain Valley's Vietnamese community is gearing up for a benefit concert tomorrow afternoon to help the victims of the first quake and subsequent tsunami last month.

The Fountain Valley Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the Viet Love 4 Japan Organizing Committee, the Vietnamese American Chamber of Commerce and the American Red Cross of Orange County, have invited community leaders and Japanese diplomats to the concert, which will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. at the Fountain Valley Town Center across from Mile Square Park on Brookhurst Street. The concert will feature a performance by Y Lan, who is dedicating a song to the cause.

Concert organizers are expecting about 10,000 people to attend the free show, and hope to raise $100,000 for relief efforts in Japan.
