The Fountain Valley girls basketball team was outscored 43-18 in the first half Thursday night in its Sunset League opener against Huntington Beach and never recovered, losing at home, 65-47.
Sophomore Lora Bender led the Lady Barons with 15 points in the loss. Junior Jasmine Matar added 14 points.
Fountain Valley will play on the road Saturday in a non-league matchup with Ocean View. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
