Fountain Valley's Population Virtually Unchanged in Past Decade
The city's 55,313 people represents an increase of less than 1 percent.
Census data released today put Fountain Valley's population at 55,313, an increase of just 335 people from the same data 10 years ago.
But while the city's overall population was largely unchanged, its demographic makeup saw noticeable changes. The percentage of white Fountain Valley residents decreased from 64 percent in 2000 to 56.5 percent in the 2010 data, while the percentge of Asians increased from 25.8 percent to 33.3 percent. The percentage of Hispanics also increased, from 10.7 percent to 13 percent.
California's population rose 10 percent from April 2000 to April 2010, according to the new census figures. The population count for the state in 2000 was 33.8 million residents, and in 2010 it was 37.2 million.

The 2010 population in the county of Orange was 3,010,232, an increase of 5.8 percent since 2000, according to the Census.
