Los Amigos Moves to 3-0 with 35-13 Win Over Loara
The Lobos dominated both sides of the ball, building a 21-0 lead in the first half and never looking back.
Senior quarterback Danny Hernandez passed for 151 yards and a touchdown and also ran for another touchdown Thursday night as Los Amigos improved to 3-0 with a convincing 35-13 win over Loara.
"This is good stuff," Lobos head coach Carl Agnew said. "This is what I like to do. This is how I like to be. It's fun this way. We've still got a lot of work, lots of things to get better at, but we just keep building."
Junior running back Jerry Saldivar added 119 yards and a touchdown on the ground for the Lobos, who jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. But it was the defense that helped Los Amigos grab momentum for good, when Robert Bonilla picked off a pass and turned what looked like a promising drive for the Saxons into a 65-yard touchdown the other way and a 21-0 lead for the Lobos.

The Lobos' only hiccup in the game came with six seconds to go in the first half, when Loara's Kezue Nwachie scampered 80 yards on the last play of the half to get the Saxons on the board at 21-6.
The temporary momentum swing lingered slightly during the third quarter, but some key third- and fourth-down conversions and more stifling defense helped the Lobos right the ship. Early in the fourth, Los Amigos added an 8-yard scoring rumble by fullback Alonzo Montes De Oca to extend the lead to 28-6, and Saldivar's touchdown salted the game away on the Lobos' next possession.

Los Amigos still has two more non-league games before starting its league schedule Oct. 13 at Garden Grove, but the Lobos' strong start has Agnew thinking long term.
"I think we're really good," he said. "I think we can go deep in the playoffs. If we just keep playing hard, we're going to get it going."
Los Amigos' next game will be Sept. 22 against Irvine at Garden Grove High.
