Los Amigos Student Wins $10,000 Art Scholarship
Marlene Quiroz's self-portrait will be displayed in the Capitol's Cannon Tunnel for the next year.

Marlene Quiroz of Los Amigos High School captured first prize in the high school art competition for the 46th Congressional District sponsored by U.S. Rep. Loretta Sanchez (D-Calif.).
Quiroz, 18, of Santa Ana, earned the top award for her self-portrait, “Bolexican Me.”
Quiroz, a student of art teacher Kevin Ferguson, received a $10,000 scholarship to the Art Institute of California, as well as a trip Washington, D.C., for herself and a family member, where she will be honored along with other winning students from across the nation in a ceremony on June 22. Their art will hang in the Cannon Tunnel of the Capitol for one year.
