A Placentia man was charged with raping an incompetent person, and rape today--his stepdaughter is 27-years-old while mentally 13-years-old

PLACENTIA, CA—A 48-year-old man was charged today with raping his autistic adult stepdaughter in Placentia. Joseph Seion Schuler is charged with one count each of raping an incompetent person and rape, according to court records.

"The alleged victim is 27, with the mental equivalent of a 13-year-old due to her disability," Placentia police Capt. Eric Point said. "Police responded to a call of a sexual assault in progress at the defendant's apartment in the 200 block of South Highland Avenue about 10:50 p.m. Sunday."

Schuler initially refused to leave the apartment, prompting negotiations that led to his surrender about 12:40 a.m. Monday, Point said.
