The Fountain Valley School District’s Board of Trustees introduced three new senior administrators who have been hired for the 2011-2012 school year.
Ann Silavs will take over as assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction, coming from a similar role as director of instruction at Ocean View School District. Cathie Abdel was promoted from director of support services to executive director of personnel. Cox Principal Julianne Hoefer was named the district’s director of assessment and accountability.
The board also honored parent volunteers JoJo Caprini and Amy Sheek from Plavan School, and Kazuto Augustus and Kim Bees from Courreges School, as well as several students from Plavan and Courreges.

In other business, the board:
- approved the 2011-2012 school year calendar.
- approved the district’s local education agency plan through 2015.
- adopted a resolution establishing the week of May 15-21 as Classified Employee Week.
