School Board Set to Vote on Collective Bargaining Agreement
Language in the new agreement would set parameters for part-time employees to receive pay raises.

The Fountain Valley School District's Board of Trustees will decide at its regular meeting Thursday night whether to approve the collective bargaining agreement for the 2011-2012 school year between the district and the Fountain Valley Education Association.
As part of proposed changes to the agreement, employees who share positions with one other employee within the district would advance one step on the salary schedule every other year. Employees who share positions with two or more other employees would advance one step every three years. The new CBA also outlines a $4,000 annual stipend for the district's ScienceWorks coordinator.
In other business, the board will decide whether to hire Jennifer Krogh as a consultant to provide the district's teachers with special GATE training. The board will also vote whether to finalize a settlement agreement between the district and parents of children in the extended school year program. The district agreed in October to reimburse parents up to $3,700 in tuition and up to $4,500 in legal fees in connection with the settlement.
