Suspected Pot, Mushroom Growers Arrested

Fountain Valley detectives seize plants, spores from Westminster home.

Fountain Valley police arrested two Westminster men Thursday on suspicion of cultivation and sale of both marijuana and psilocybin.

Christopher Michael Harrison, 24, and Joseph Alexander Ramirez, 25, were both taken into custody at the Orange County Jail after their arrest. Detectives served a search warrant on a home in Westminster and found and extensive psilocybin and marijuana growing operation, police said.

Officers seized 32 trays of mushrooms, 34 jars of mushroom spores, a half pound of dried mushrooms, 49 marijuana plants, 1.6 pounds of dried marijuana and 19 grams of concentrated cannabis. Detectives also seized soil and specialized equipment used to grow marijuana and psilocybin, commonly known as mushrooms.
