FREMONT, CA — An armed suspect was placed on a mental health hold following a three-hour standoff between himself and police last week, according to authorities.

A woman called the officers to Gleason Lane on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2025, after her son battered her and barricaded himself inside a garage, according to the Fremont Police Department.

Officers arrived at the scene and tried to talk with the suspect, but he refused to come out. He then told the officers that he was armed with knives, threatened to fight them and harm himself, police said.
