City Recognizes 2012 Employees of the Year

Three Glendora city employees took the honor of being named 2012 Employees of the Year by a panel of residents and city employees.

Ten nominees for the award were considered, but three were honored in three categories: Public Safety, Management and General.

Lieutenant Brian Summers, a 30-year veteran of the Glendora Police Department, was awarded the Public Safety Employee of the Year award for his contributions in new technology in the Investigations Bureau and for managing various staff projects.

A Glendora city report praised Summers for his “true personal commitment and devotion to public safety and improving people’s lives and employees’ performance.”

As secretary for the City Manager and City Council, Sonja Jones was recognized as the Management Employee of the Year. Jones, who has worked with the city for four years, was described in her nomination as going “beyond the expected to involve herself in the activities that make Glendora the best place to live, work and play.”

General Employee of the Year Bill Repp is a 30-year employee of the city and currently serves as a plans examiner. He currently assists both the Building & Safety Superintendent and the Director of Public Works.

A recent Glendora Report called Rep an “exemplary example of a team player.”

The awardees received a plaque for their awards and a $500 cash bonus.
