Community Prays For Adopted Children, Families

For many families, the joy of adoption is often tempered by the challenges potential parents face. From challenges by birth parents, to legal expenses, to adjusting to a new family, the adoption process can be an emotional roller coaster.

America’s Christian Credit Union in Glendora hosted A Call to Pray for Adoption, Wednesday, Feb. 27 where families, adoption advocates and community leaders met to pray for families and their adopted children.

The Pacheco family shared their experience adopting two of their four children, including the adoption of their youngest daughter. The parents embarked on a desperate search for their daughter’s birth father to finalize the adoption. They insisted that prayer and support from family and friends is what carried them through the uncertain process.

Dr. Kevin Mannoia, chaplain of Azusa Pacific University, led a prayer offering support to adoption organizations, agencies, birth parents, adoptive parents and their children.

According to ACCU, the prayer was coordinated as a peaceful way to make a profound statement in support of children and the rights of adoptive families.
