Contest Seeks Local Art For State Senate Art Show

Senator Carol Liu is inviting artists from the 25th District to submit artwork to be displayed in the state Capitol.

Senator Carol Liu, D-Pasadena, is looking for art from a local artist that best represents the 25th Senate District.

The winning entry in the district-wide contest will be displayed in the state Capitol from May 2013 to September 2014 as part of the State Senate Art show. Artists from the district are all invited to submit as many pieces of art into the contest. Artwork entries can include oil paintings, weavings, art hangings, drawings, art on paper, and sculptures.

Communities in the 25th District include Altadena, Bradbury, Burbank, Claremont, Duarte, Glendale, Glendora, La Canada, La Crescenta, La Verne, Monrovia, Montrose, Pasadena, San Dimas, San Marino, Sierra Madre, South Pasadena, Sunland-Tujunga, and Upland.

The contest is open to artists of all ages. All submitted work, which must be a jpeg image of the artwork, should be e-mailed by March 30. Entries should also include a brief description of the artist and why they feel their artwork represents the 25th Senate District.
