'Devious Licks' Wrecks Restrooms At Glendora Schools: Report

The destructive viral TikTok trend forced two Glendora Unified School District campuses to temporarily close their restrooms to students.

GLENDORA, CA β€” Soap dispensers ripped from the walls and toilet seats covered in a red liquid are just some of the damages being reported from Glendora schools as a result of the viral β€œDevious Licks” TikTok trend.

The destructive nature of the trend has caused two campuses in the Glendora Unified School District to temporarily close several of their restrooms during the school day, according to a report from the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.

Students at Sanburg Middle School and Glendora High School will have to make do with limited access to restrooms, the paper reported.

The social media challenge encourages youths to film themselves stealing or destroying items in their school’s restrooms, such as sinks, soap dispensers and toilets.

TikTok has moved to ban videos using hashtags related to the challenge from its platform, according to a statement from the company.

β€œWe expect our community to stay safe and create responsibly, and we do not allow content that promotes or enables criminal activities,” the statement said. β€œWe are removing this content and redirecting hashtags and search results to our community guidelines to discourage such behavior.”

That hasn’t stopped further incidents involving the challenge from popping up across the country.

The Pasadena Unified School District even issued a warning to students that they could face criminal charges if caught participating in the trend.
