Gas Prices Fall Slightly

While gas fell one-tenth of a penny over the weekend, gas prices are still higher than summers of 2006 and 2010.

Local gas prices moved down by less than half a penny in most Southland areas throughout the past week, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California’s Weekend Gas Watch.

The Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $3.819 per gallon, which is one-tenth of one penny lower than last week, two cents lower than last month, and 70 cents higher than last year.

In San Diego, the price is $3.823, an increase of half a penny from last week, one cent above last month, and 69 cents higher than last year.

On the Central Coast, the average price is $3.856, down 1.4 cents from last week, one-tenth of one cent lower than a month ago, and 67 cents above last year.

In the Inland Empire, the average per gallon price is $3.793, which is one-tenth of one cent lower than last week, two cents lower than last month, and 69 cents more than last year.

"It’s good news that Southern California gas prices are no longer rising or are rising very little, but we are still paying prices that are 50 to 70 cents higher than during the summers of 2006 and 2010, although we are well below the $4.50-a-gallon prices of summer 2008,” said Auto Club spokesperson Jeffrey Spring.
