San Gabriel Canyon Road (Highway 39) leading to the forest and East Fork Road have been shut down, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

No structures have been threatened by the fire. The shooting range, however, was evacuated as a precaution. Nearby Crystal Lake have not been evacuated, but the roads leading there have been been closed.

Because of heat wave forecast for this weekend, forest officials raised the fire danger level in the Angeles National Forest from high to very high on Monday.
