St. Patrick's Day DUI Crackdown Planned This Weekend
Extra police units will be out in force to arrest impaired drivers during the holiday weekend.

While many St. Patrickβs Day revelers will be heading to bars Sunday, extra police units will be cracking down on drivers under the influence on highways and streets.
Glendora Police and the countywide Avoid the 100 anti-DUI task force will be deploying special units as part of its Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over public safety campaign over the holiday weekend.
βToday we are giving fair warning to everyone traveling in Los Angeles County that our law enforcement officers will be out on patrol and if you are caught driving drunk, you will be arrested,β said Glendora Police Chief Rob Castro in a statement.

There will be DUI patrols and checkpoints in communities throughout Los Angeles County during the St. Patrickβs Day holiday weekend. The DUI patrols and checkpoints are in addition to regularly scheduled officers.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, over 700 people were killed nationwide in alcohol-related crashes during St. Patrickβs Day holidays from 2006 to 2010.

The Task Force is funded through a grant by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the national Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
