Updated: Highway 1 Reopens Following Deadly Crash at Devil's Slide Tunnel
The highway was closed for five hours Saturday morning.

The CHP reported at 8:33 a.m. that Highway 1 is now open. The Sig Alert was cancelled at 8:35 a.m.

Both directions of U.S. Highway 1 are closed just south of Devils Slide in San Mateo County this morning due to a fatal crash, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal collision is located in the vicinity of the Tom Lantos Tunnels just south of Pacifica, the CHP said.
According to the CHP, only one vehicle appears to have been involved in the collision.
The crash was reported at about 3:25 a.m. and a Sigalert was issued at about 3:40 a.m., the CHP said.
One person was declared deceased at the scene and no other injuries have been reported, according to the CHP.
The SMC Alert System sent a traffic advisory at 3:50 a.m. stating Highway 1 is closed in both directions at Tom Lantos Tunnel (Devils Slide) in Montara and that there is no estimated time for reopening the highway.
The roadway is expected to remain closed in both directions until about 6 a.m., the CHP said.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation and the name of the deceased has not yet been released.
