Gun Recovered After DUI Arrest In Half Moon Bay: Police

Investigators allege a driver was under the influence of alcohol and cocaine with a loaded gun in the vehicle.

HALF MOON BAY, CA — A driver and passenger were arrested early Tuesday in Half Moon Bay after investigators allege a gun and drug paraphernalia were found inside a vehicle that was being driven under the influence.

According to the sheriff's office, a deputy working Coastside Patrol witnessed multiple traffic violations around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. Deputies said the driver tried to "avoid law enforcement detection" but was soon found in a parking lot near Amesport Landing.

The deputy said the driver became agitated and appeared impaired, and was later determined to be under the influence of cocaine and alcohol. Officials said the passenger was also agitated and resisted orders from the deputy.

According to investigators, a search of the vehicle revealed a loaded gun, loaded magazine, drug paraphernalia and other evidence.

The sheriff's office identified the driver as Matias Fuentes-Santini, 26, of Half Moon Bay. He was booked into jail on suspicion of having a loaded gun in a vehicle, being under the influence with a loaded gun and driving under the influence. The passenger, identified as Iris M. Grant, 20, of El Granada, was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public and obstruction.
