Identity Theft, Construction Equipment Stolen, Fraudulent Checks, and a Switchblade

Here's what went down last weekend in Half Moon Bay.

The following information was supplied by the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Friday, Nov. 8

12:54 a.m. - Etheldore Moss Beach - DUI Alcohol/Drugs - Deputies contacted a 21 year old male from Moss Beach during a traffic stop. He fit the criteria for DUI and was place under arrest. He was taken to First Chance.

7:55 a.m. - 100 Block of San Mateo Rd., Half Moon Bay - Public Intoxication - Deputies made contact with a 60 year old man from El Granada who was found to be too intoxicated to care for himself and was booked into San Mateo County Jail to be released when sober.

9:57 a.m. - 700 Block of Arnold Way, Half Moon Bay - Petty Theft - Deputies responded to a theft report. Sometime over the past few days, unknown suspect(s) took the victim’s bike. Total value of the stolen item is $200. No leads at this time.

10:36 a.m. - 500 Block of 4th St., Montara - Obtain/Use Personal ID w/o authorization- Felony - Deputies responded to a report of identity theft. An unknown suspect used the victim’s name and information for open a credit card account. The victim was unaware until informed by a collection agency and then reported it. No leads at this time. 

11:20 p.m. - California Ave / Harvard Ave., Princeton - Possession of switchblade knife in vehicle - During a routine traffic stop, deputies made contact with a 22 year old male from Pacifica who was found to be in possession of a type of switchblade. The subject was detained and cited.

Saturday, Nov. 9

12:32 a.m. - Kelly Ave / Main St., Half Moon Bay - DUI Alcohol/Drugs - Deputies contacted a 35 year old male from Half Moon Bay during a traffic stop. He fit the criteria for DUI and was place under arrest. He was taken to First Chance.

3:02 a.m. – Highway 1/Main St., Half Moon Bay - DUI Alcohol/Drugs/ Drive W/Suspended License/ Resist or Obstruct Officer - Deputies contacted the suspect during a traffic stop. He fit the criteria for DUI and was place under arrest. He was also found to be driving on a suspended license. While conducting the DUI stop the suspect’s passenger attempted to flee and resist. Both parties were booked into the San Mateo County Jail. 

8:07 a.m. - 500 Block of Kelly Ave., Half Moon Bay - Warrant Arrest - Deputies made contact with 30 year old man from Half Moon Bay that was found to have a warrant for his arrest. The subject was cited and released.

8:39 a.m. - 600 Block of Railroad Ave., Half Moon Bay - Grand Theft - Deputies responded to a theft report. Sometime over the past few days unknown suspect(s) stole construction equipment from the back of victim’s pick up truck. The value of the equipment was approximately over $2,000.00. No leads at this time.

9:57 a.m. - 3800 Block N Cabrillo Hwy., Half Moon Bay - Petty Theft - Deputies responded to a petty theft report. Unknown suspect(s) entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and stole various items from the vehicle. Total loss is approximately over $900. There is no suspect information at this time.

12:25 p.m. - Pillar Point Harbor, Princeton - Warrant Arrest - Deputies made contact with a subject that was found to have a warrant for his arrest. The 53 year old man from Brisbane was cited and released.

11:57 p.m. - N Cabrillo Hwy/Ruisseau Francais Ave., Half Moon Bay – DUI - Deputies contacted a 22 year old woman from Half Moon Bay during a traffic stop. She fit the criteria for DUI and was place under arrest. She was taken to First Chance.

Sunday, Nov. 10

3:10 p.m. - 0-100 Block of Johnson Pier, Princeton - Driving with a suspended license - During a routine traffic stop, deputies made contact with a subject that was found to be driving on a suspended license. The subject was cited and released from the scene.

4:35 p.m. - 800 Block of Etheldore, Moss Beach – Forge/counterfeit - Deputies made contact with a subject who wanted to report that his checkbook had been stolen and that several fraudulent checks had been drawn on his account. No leads at this time.

11:12 p.m. - 0-100 Block of N. Cabrillo Hwy., Half Moon Bay - Public Intoxication - Deputies made contact with a subject, who was found to be too intoxicated to care for himself and was booked into San Mateo County Jail to be released when sober.
