Neighbors Help Extinguish Small Fire Near Half Moon Bay

A small fire briefly sent smoke into the air Monday afternoon in the Tunitas Creek wildland.

HALF MOON BAY, CA — Residents made quick work of a small fire that sparked Monday afternoon just south of Half Moon Bay, according to Cal Fire.

The agency shared images of smoke in the Tunitas Creek area around 1:15 p.m. as Coastside fire crews made their way to the scene. Cal Fire said most of the smoke had dissipated within 15 minutes and credited people in the area with putting out the 25-by-25-foot blaze.

Officials said a fire engine would stay on the scene to watch for hot spots and urged neighbors to remain vigilant during the dry weather.
